Howdy, friends.

Every November I hear the same story. Somebody's hosting Thanksgiving again. The house is too small, the guest room is full of boxes, and half the family is sleeping on air mattresses in the living room. By Friday everybody's tired and nobody's had any real time together.

This year, try something different. Bring the whole bunch out to the Hill Country and let the land do the hosting.

Room to Spread Out

Out here in Pipe Creek we've got 13 handcrafted log cabins on 20 acres, with two creeks running through the property. Grandparents can have their own cabin. The cousins can have theirs. Everybody gets a real bed, a door that closes, and a porch to sit on with a cup of coffee in the morning.

Four of our one-bedroom cabins have full kitchens, so if somebody insists on making their famous pie from scratch, they can. And if your family comes with a motorhome, our RV sites are all pull-throughs up to 85 feet long. No backing in, no stress.

A Place for the Big Meal

Every family needs one table where everybody fits. Our covered pavilion and outdoor kitchen are open to all our guests, and they're made for exactly that. Smoke the turkey, fry it, or bring it already carved. Pull the tables together and eat outside under the oak trees the way Thanksgiving ought to feel.

When the plates are cleared, build a fire and stay a while. There's no city glow out here, so after dark the sky fills up with more stars than most folks have seen in years. The kids will remember that long after they forget what was on the menu.

The Day After Thanksgiving

Friday doesn't have to be about shopping lines. Boerne is about 15 minutes down Highway 46, and Dickens on Main runs Friday and Saturday, November 27 and 28, with Victorian costumes, carolers, and the whole town lit up for Christmas. Boerne's been getting plenty of attention lately as one of the merriest Christmas towns in the country, and this is the weekend it starts to show.

Bandera is 15 minutes the other way if your crew would rather walk Main Street, see real cowboys, and do a little Christmas shopping in the Cowboy Capital of the World.

If you'd rather stay put, that's fine too. Walk the creeks, throw a football in the field, or take a nap. Nobody out here is keeping score.

Bring the Dog

We're pet-friendly, so the four-legged family members don't have to spend the holiday at a kennel.
